In the movie "The Hobbit," Gandalf warns Bilbo Baggins that he might not come back from the adventure with the Dwarves - and if he does, he will not be the same. Trauma takes us on a journey we never intended, and it will change us. Our Children's Program is designed to help your child on their healing journey.
Children who have experienced sexual abuse/violence, and/or domestic abuse/violence
You can read our definition of sexual and domestic violence here (scroll to the bottom of the link). If you believe your child fits this definition, we believe you.
If your child would feel more comfortable bringing a friend with them, we would love to accommodate that! Please let us know.
Defense Training that is developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed
Defense training has the opportunity to help children grow in confidence, self-regulation, problem-solving, and agency - all within a supportive and fun environment! Our instructors are experienced and humble - meaning we will work with you to support your kiddo on their healing journey.

Victory Training Center (VTC)
810 14th St SW
Loveland, CO 80537
VTC is a 3000 square foot gym in South Loveland. It has bleachers and chairs so parents and/or guardians can sit & watch.
Defense training is a unique type of body-focused treatment that activates the limbic system, the part of the brain active during a traumatic event. The National Alliance on Mental Illness advocates that Limbic System Therapy is the "treatment of choice" for trauma.
Our classes are available to any survivor, regardless of their ability to pay. All you need to do is complete the intake (link provided down below - keep scrolling!)
If you want to pay for classes, the suggested price is $15/class, per child.
Our Goal
The goal of Cor Defense’s Children’s Program is to reduce the potential lifelong impact of abuse by increasing protective factors for children who have experienced sexual abuse.
Our Strategy
We will focus on developing individual developmental competencies: problem-solving skills, self-regulation, cultivating agency. This will be done through teaching defense techniques, incorporating regulating activities throughout defense training, and encouraging children to use their voice and participate in decision-making in every class. These individual developmental competencies serve as protective factors for survivors of childhood abuse, which research shows can reduce adverse effects such as chronic health problems, mental health concerns, suicide, and substances use disorders.
Completing the Intake
You are welcome to cancel your child's involvement at anytime throughout the process. Completing the intake does not mean you are fully committed to participating in our Children's Program. We understand that a lot of things come up and plans can change. We also understand our intake form has a lot of additional information which will help you identify if you want to move forward with our program.
Feel free to text our Co-Founder and Instructor, Andrea Person, at 970-426-6579 if you have any questions or concerns. You can also email her at andrea@cordefense.org (text is the best way to reach her, though!)
